Alfredo P. Alcala (legacy), a Filipino artist who, in young years, drew informational images providing relevant information about the occupying Japanese forces to America was, among many things, the creator of "Voltar," which pre-dated Frazetta's "Conan." He worked for both DC and Marvel, was involved in artwork for the "Planet of the Apes" and "Star Wars" enterprises, partnered with Jack Kirby, and inked various "Conan the Barbarian" comic books himself. He was the very first mini-comic artist for the Masters of the Universe toy line, providing the now legendary art for the first 4 stories. Alcala, sadly, left us April 8, 2000.
